It's a wonderful time to get things made in different ways and media. I was recently invited by The Script Department, that champions unmade screenplays, to produce my original script about General Gordon in Khartoum, facing the first Islamist uprising in 1884.
It is based on his riveting war diaries and other first hand accounts, and chronicles a descent into madness as the mirroring of many of the traits of his Islamist opponent, the Mahdi. Gordon's belief was "better a ball in the brain than to flicker out unheeded". Pip Torrens has narrated it brilliantly.
You might think this would cost gazillions to make but Gordon also sketched the events beautifully and my plan is to animate the huge battle scenes from his artwork. Cost effective and Covid-secure!
